PADDLE BOARDERS: one person or a whole group can cover a lot of shoreline just by getting together in the evening and on the weekend. Here is what one man accomplished.... the 1st media article garnered a massive team of volunteers. A picnic at sunset cemented the team. One lake, with over 200 miles of shoreline was claimed by many paddle boarding teams on a tracking map. When the word spread through social media other friends and family volunteered, collectively cleaning 1,000's of miles of fresh and salt water shorelines. The media articles went viral spreading to Linked In, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram sharing the effectiveness around the world and the constant need to be vigilant to protect the source of 80% of our oxygen. https://www.castanet.net/news/Vernon/270316/Okanagan-Kal-lakes-are-lot-cleaner-after-lots-of-hard-work https://www.castanet.net/news/Vernon/255916/Lakes-full-of-garbage https://www.castanet.net/news/Vernon/257525/Paddling-picker-gifted-gear
PADDLE BOARDERS please note: Paddle Boarders can see and reach what Volunteers doing shoreline cleanup or monitoring can't see. Dropping a waterproof camera on a secure line into the water will show disgusting garbage... sofa's etc. A Pro Cam 4 camera under a dock shows who used styro foam illegally for buoyancy. Make note of the address and call the local By-Law office anonymously. Never approach the dock or floating dock owner ! And, if you see By Law infractions on shore follow the same procedure please, note the address and call By Law anonymously. Especially when you see discarded large plastics which the sun and rain/snow will break down into tiny pieces as they inch toward the waterway.
Northern Canada is filled with rivers and lakes flowing north to the Beaufort Sea or the Arctic Ocean
